Dr. Brian O’Toole

Director

As one of the two founding Directors of School of Nations Dr. Brian O’Toole is a beloved member of the school community. His idea to open a school of excellence began in 1996 after a visit to a wonderful Baha’i school in Lome, in Togo. That school was an oasis of peace and unity in a bustling, chaotic and disunited city.

Having moved to Guyana in 1978, Dr. O’Toole has long since become a Guyanese citizen.

Having worked in education for over 40 years Dr. O’Toole was awarded the Member of the British Empire (MBE) in 2018 for service to education in the British Commonwealth, the award was presented by Prince William.

A few months earlier to the award of the MBE, Dr. O’Toole was awarded the Golden Arrowhead in Guyana, one of the highest non military awards available, also for dedication to education in Guyana.

Dr. O’Toole brings a wealth of information and international experience to Nations. He has published multiple books and international journal articles and has worked as an educational consultant for the IDB, World Bank, European Union, UNICEF and many more throughout Africa and Asia for over 25 years.
