School of the Nations is Guyana’s premier private school dedicated to grades K through 12. Nations educates girls and boys of all races , cultures and backgrounds to become bold, authentic and intellectually vibrant changemakers. We aim to contribute to the development of a highly moral, skilled, and educated population necessary to advancing the development of Guyana, regardless of race, culture, creed, gender and educational background.
Secure & Confident
We develop young boys and girls who are secure in themselves.
Nations graduates grow remarkable confidence and a strong voice—they hold fast to what they believe, know their own strengths, and speak up for themselves and others.
Rounded Approach to Academics, Arts and Sports
At Nations, we foster a balance between academics, arts and sports.
This is done by encouraging the development of each aspect to mold our students into well rounded individuals and to provide opportunities that open their lives to new experiences.
ChangeMakers
We empower boys and girls to be courageous changemakers.
Nations students are comfortable tussling with complex problems and are eager to solve them. They develop into brave, bold young boys and girls who are ready to use their powerful minds and voices to change the world.
Positive Community Members
We believe learning is enhanced by the remarkable diversity of our school community.
At Nations boys and girls learn about different cultures, races and religions. Guyana’s four largest religions are Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and the Baha’i Faith. In Guyana’s multicultural community national holidays are celebrated from the three largest religions. Nations encourages activities and experiences of all cultures for our student body creating young people who have a community mindset and who learn that community development is an integral part of their personal lives.
Vibrant Intellectuals
We embolden boys and girls to be intellectually vibrant and ambitious.
In the company of other genuinely curious, diverse students, and guided by gifted and committed teachers, our students thrive in our forward-thinking, progressive academic environment.
Service to Others
We live our motto through Service.
We teach our learners to be of service to those in need and our community as each act of service has a positive impact in persons’ lives. As a school we have one major community project per year and smaller class projects per term.

National Holiday – Diwali
Event Info
Another common name for Diwali is “the Festival of Lights.” Diwali occurs on the 15th of the Hindu month of Kartika, which puts it in the range of later October to early November on the Gregorian Calendar.
The mythological background of Diwali concerns the story of Krishna defeating his rival Narakasura in deadly battle and then arriving in the city of Madura by the light of the new moon. The central figure that is worshipped by Hindus on Diwali, however, is Lakshmi, the goddess of light and prosperity. Devotees pray to her on this day, seeking both spiritual and physical blessings. The full story behind Diwali is found in the Hindu holy book called “the Ramayana,” which is frequently read aloud at Diwali celebrations.
